A new beginning means letting go first
In fact, our entire life is characterised by letting go, starting immediately after birth. Letting go of the umbilical cord that connected you to your mother is the first step towards independence. This is followed by many important moments of letting go in those early years: breast milk, first steps and, for example, being left alone at nursery.
By the time we are about 7 years old, we have already learned a lot.We have let go of a lot, but we also have a wealth of experience under our belts. Letting go is difficult, or rather, it takes effort. It also brings us many wonderful things, such as freedom, independence and increasing control over our lives. And yet we often associate letting go with that initial emotion of “unpleasant or even painful”.
In the life that follows, we continue to let go; our first boyfriend or girlfriend, our school, our parental home, our first job, which further fills our backpack.
And then many of us reach the point where we think: is this it now, I'm stuck in a job, a relationship or a situation and I want to let go, but I can't. On a subconscious level, we have become afraid to let go for fear of the pain.
It helps to write down the worst thing that could happen to you. In many cases, it turns out to be not so bad after all, and that is the beginning of change. What is happening here is that we are too preoccupied with what we do not want, while energy comes from what we do want.
When you shift your focus to what you want to achieve, miracles can happen. So, do you want to change something in your circumstances? Then formulate your goal in a positive way, make sure you are the one who is going to do something, dare to think big and then start with small steps. Make it visual, create a mood board, draw a picture, choose a symbol, or link a song to it. In this way, you “anchor” (an NLP term for embedding in your system) your goal to your system.
Every day you have the opportunity to make a new start; the choice is yours. If you are unable to take action, consider that there is apparently something in your current situation that is so beneficial to you that you are unable to move forward. So, what things are you going to let go of this week, and what are you going to do with that space? What steps are you going to take?
